Appointment of Bryan Webber as Executive Director for Executive Education, Continuing Studies and Professional Development

It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Bryan Webber as Executive Director, Executive Education, Continuing Studies and Professional Development, effective May 19, 2025. With a previous extensive private sector background in BC’s Forest industry, he spent the last 19+ years at Vancouver Island University as teaching faculty, student advisor, academic administrator, and organizational development advisor, including 3+ years as the Dean of the Faculty of Management. Bryan will be able to superbly apply his unique set of skills, experience and education as we collectively strive to continue building PCU-WHS into a highly recognized and trusted source of quality education, information and research into all aspects of Workplace Health.

Beyond expanding our current educational offerings through a focus on innovation, thought-leadership and best practice, meeting the needs of an ever expanding professional Disability Management community across Canada, and in collaboration with our international partners in south east Asia, Europe and Australasia, Bryan’s extensive experience as a faculty member and Dean will be most welcome as we also address the various suggestions being advanced as part of our master’s degree proposal and the Bachelor of Disability Management renewal process.

Working with Abdifatah Abdi, who will continue to lead the continuing education program, Bryan will be able to integrate all of our Executive Education, Continuing Studies and Professional Development opportunities into a seamless framework designed to meet rapidly changing societal needs in the context of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and support organizations in building their institutional capacity to meet increasing regulatory requirements such as the Return-to-Work obligations under the recent BC WCB reform Act (Bill41) as well as Disability Employment requirements under a range of Accessibility Legislation at the federal and provincial levels across Canada.

When asked about the appointment, Bryan had this to say, “I am honoured and excited to join the team at PCU-WHS, an organization, which along with NIDMAR, I have admired and had the good fortune to engage with on a number of initiatives over the past several years. Both the need and opportunity for PCU-WHS’s educational services are great, and I look forward to helping make an even greater impact in fulfilling our mission.”

Living in Nanaimo, Bryan is planning to spend a considerable amount of time on a regular basis at our campus and with that, please join me in welcoming Bryan to our collective team committed to making a difference in improving all aspects of an Integrated Workplace Health approach.
